Tarkett honored by Confindustria for over 100 years manufacturing presence in Italy

At an occasion held in Rome on May 26 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Confindustria (General Confederation of Italian Industry), Tarkett, the world leader in flooring and sports surfaces, was honored by the President of Confindustria, Emma Marcegaglia, for over 100 years of manufacturing presence in Italy.

Confindustria is the main organization representing Italian manufacturing and service companies. Its mission is to contribute to Italy’s economic growth and social progress. With over 140,000 member companies, it represents nearly 5 million employees.

Tarkett has operated in Italy since 1889 and has a production site located in Narni, Umbria, which is north of Rome. Dedicated exclusively to the production of linoleum since the beginning, the site received significant investments in 1987. Of Tarkett’s 28 manufacturing sites, the Narni site today is the Group’s dedicated linoleum production site, exporting to countries throughout the world with an efficient logistics platform. The site is ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified and has an ecodesign center in order to incorporate environmental issues into the design.

The Narni plant currently employs about 120 people, and its production meets its customers’ growing needs for natural products. Linoleum flooring is especially environmentally friendly because it is composed exclusively of natural and recyclable raw materials, such as linseed oil and jute.

Regarding Confindustria’s prestigious centennial award, Giuseppe Cioffi, CEO of Tarkett SpA, said, “We are honored and grateful for having received this award from Confindustria, and we dedicate it to the many hands and minds that have created ingenious works for over a century. To quote Miguel de Unamuno: ‘Only those with good memories can have high hopes.’”
