Asvel Basket to own the first NBA style court in France
Inaugurated in the presence of Tony Parker and several other sports celebrities at Astroballe in Villeurbanne on September 24 2010, this unique Tarkett Sports parquet has been specifically designed and developed to meet the high standards of a true NBA style basketball court.
The “Proflex M” represents a new and unique surface solution. Especially designed to match the high demands of professional athletes, the parquet is glued onto a double ledger structure that marries aesthetics with perfect playing conditions: an optimum shock absorption, a regular rebounding of the ball, sliding and resistance, as well as playing comfort and safety for the players.
The new parquet for Asvel has been certified by key national and international federations such as FIBA (Fédération Internationale de Basketball), FFBB (Fédération Française de Basketball) and the WVBF (World Volleyball and Beach Volleyball Federation).
Tarkett Sports, one of the world wide leading sports surface providers, has been partnering with the French Basketball Federation since 2005. The Group provides the majority of parquet surfaces to the French Basketball Championships Pro A and Pro B league clubs and has as such already equipped: Chalon-sur-Saône, Hyères-Toulon, Strasbourg, Nanterre, Clermont-Ferrand, etc.
In 2009,Tarkett Sports and the Asvel Basket Club Pro A, who holds the largest number of titles in collective sports disciplines (17 French Champion titles, 9 French Cup titles), have signed a particular partnership agreement, with the objective to match their technical and athletic expertise on behalf of a basketball surface that offers an ultimate playing performance. An objective, that seems to have been met during the inaugurational match, which coincided with the first round of the Euroleague qualifications between KK Buducnost and Asvel Basket, won by the latter one 85-76.
